Resistance-Temperature Characteristics

Resistance-Temperature Characteristics depict resistance value at zero-power versus temperature. This relationship is expressed mathematically as:

R1 = R2 *e [β(1/T1-1/T2] (eq. 1)
Where:
T1 = absolute temperature (K) at any point
T2 = absolute temperature (K) different from T1
R1 = resistance (Ω) with zero power at T1
R2 = resistance (Ω) with zero power at T2
β   = constant [K]

Equation (1) depicts linearity as a logarithm of Zero-Power Resistance versus the reciprocal of temperature. Some examples of Resistance-Temperature Characteristics are shown in the R-T Characteristic Examples (Figure 1).
