Stetron Launches Two New SMD Resettable Fuse PTC Thermistor Product Lines
New thermistors allow designers to optimize circuit board real estate
BUFFALO, NY and MARKHAM, ON, CA - May 13, 2003 - Stetron International, Inc., a leading provider of electronic components and solutions, today announced the immediate availability of two new lines of Surface Mount Polymer PTC (PPTC) thermistors.

Available in production quantities, the new PL (Figure 1) and PM (Figure 2) series of SMD polymer resettable fuses are designed for use in a variety of telecom and general electronics over-current applications. These surface mount devices were developed to be compatible with high-volume electronics assembly processes.

Some of the features include:
Single-shot current fuses cannot offer protection when a rise in temperature causes only a slight increase in current draw. With the resettable PL and PM fuses installed close to potential heat generating components such as batteries, FETs or motors, the devices can provide both over-current and over-temperature protection in one installed component.
Our customers requested resettable fuses that are compatible with high-volume electronics assembly processes so Stetron responded by introducing surface mount PPTC thermistors. Now design engineers can use the thermistors to optimize valuable circuit board real estate while protecting circuits.
The PL and PM series of PPTC thermistors are available in tape and reel packaging for compatibility with high-volume manufacturing, or in bulk quantities.
Stetron also specializes in application design assistance for customers. Customers should contact their nearest Stetron office for detailed product information or design assistance.
Polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) thermistors rated from 6 to 60VAC, and are available in hold currents from 100mA to 3A. Help guard against over-current and over-temperature faults in SLIC (Subscriber Line Interface Cards), ADSL (Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line) modems, DC motors and battery packs. Protection against board and component damage caused by fault conditions such as surges from AC power induction and power faults as well as over-temperature conditions associated with battery charging and motor drive circuits.
Pricing and Availability
These leading edge PPTC thermistors are available immediately in production quantities. Minimum order quantity is 5000 units. Customers should contact their nearest Stetron office for pricing and delivery times. Custom application design assistance is also available for customers.
